I'm a Registered Counsellor based in Aotearoa, New Zealand, and I've been exactly where you are. I've done every diet under the sun, been every shape and size, and struggled with yo-yo dieting, weight cycling, body hate, and binge eating disorder for a decade. At 23 I had gastric sleeve surgery because I believed it was the only way I would stop overeating. Six months later I was still bingeing, and feeling more hopeless than ever. I spent years white-knuckling it and hating myself after every episode. In 2019, I finally figured out why it kept happening. I've been binge-free ever since.
